Worth noting is the author’s summary of the proven benefits of TOT: “In 2021, an expert consensus panel provided treatment guidelines for [TOT] and supported its use in clinical practice. It is anticipated that future evidence-based clinical practice guidelines will similarly recognize the proven benefits of TOT in healing chronic DFUs and establish recommendations for its use.”

Topical oxygen therapy has proven benefits in healing chronic diabetic foot ulcers. The evidence supporting the efficacy of TOT can no longer be disputed.
