Case Study: Healing a Non-Healing Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU)

This case study by Windy Cole, DPM highlights the successful treatment of a 42-year-old patient with a 14-week history of a non-healing diabetic foot ulcer. Despite standard of care—including regular debridement, off-loading, and topical antimicrobials—the wound failed to progress. The patient also faced comorbidities such as COPD, hypertension, obesity, and diabetes-related anxiety and depression.

Following initiation of NATROX® O2 Continuous Topical Oxygen Therapy, the ulcer showed rapid improvement. Within 3 weeks, the wound bed was free of slough and the peri-wound skin was healthier; by week 4, the ulcer was completely healed.

This case demonstrates how NATROX® O2 provides an effective, easy-to-use solution for managing non-healing diabetic foot ulcers, supporting faster closure and improved patient quality of life.
