Supplemental Oxygen Therapy in Wound Healing

Summary:

Highlights synergies between hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOt) and continuous topical oxygen therapy (cTOT).

Case 1: DFU treated with NPWT followed by 40 HBOt treatments, after which the wound was still not completely healed. At the conclusion of HBOt, NATROX® O₂ was applied until complete wound healing was obtained after 4 months.

Case 2: Amputation wound treated with standard of care (SoC) until deemed non-healing. NATROX O₂ was initiated while HBOt was authorized and used between dives once authorized. Significant progress was seen as a result of the combined therapies. At the time of this publication, the patient had completed HBOt and was still being treated with NATROX O₂ until complete closure.

Key Takeaway:

HBOt and TOT are not competing therapeutic methods. They are complementary to each other and could be used together or sequentially.
